The Barracks – Lost & Found

Written By Mark Jones

The Barracks are a 4 piece band from Hastings, UK who play catchy punk rock in the vain of Rancid, Swingin’ Utters and the Bouncing Souls to name a few. The band have just released ‘Lost & Found’ the follow up 2012’s ‘Out With The Old’. The album was recorded between 2014 and 2016 but the band weren’t happy with the recordings so in stepped Ben Wilen who re-mixed the songs late last year and finally these songs can see the light of day.

Coming in at just under half an hour the 10 songs on ‘Lost & Found’ are melodic, catchy sing-alongs that I just can’t stop playing. The album gets off to a great start with a couple of excellent drinking songs in ‘Last Call’ & ‘Drinking Song’ that I guarantee will get you stomping and singing along to.

After listening to the album a few times I’m so happy that the band didn’t give up on these tracks as it would’ve been a shame if songs like ‘Tattoos’, ‘Middle Ground’ ‘Hometown’, ‘Broken Hearts and Broken Bones’ didn’t see the light of day. For me, though the stand out track on ‘Lost & Found’ is the excellent ‘Fuck You’, a melodic, hook-laden anthem that will be on my playlist for months to come.

The Barracks have just released a fine album that deserves a place in your record collection, so pour yourself a pint, raise your glass and enjoy because ‘Lost & Found is an absolute gem of an album. I’m off now to listen to it again!
