Yorkshire Rats – Yorkshire Rats

The Yorkshire Rats are a four piece UK punk band that merges roots-driven punk of Social Distortion with the speed of the Ramones and Stiff Little Fingers and the results are incredible. Formed in Pontefract in 2014 by former Billy No Mates and Abrasive Wheels member Don Mercy, this E.P is the follow up to their 2015 debut album ‘Sea of Souls’.

First up is ‘Alone Together’, a fast paced and aggressive song about the strains of relationships is a great start to the E.P. The roots based ‘Where Do I Sign’ is next up before the excellent ‘No Way Out’ another roots driven song but slightly punkier than the previous song. The last track ‘Better Days Will Come’ is possibly my favourite on the record, a well-written song and excellent chorus and is a fitting way to end this gem of a release.

The Yorkshire Rats have produced a classic record and if you’re a fan of Social Distortion you should give it a listen.
