Hailing from Birmingham, UK, A Promise To Forget are a 4 piece band who play atmospheric Melodic-Metalcore and have just released their debut album ‘Dying To Live’. Written over the course of 3 years the band had to overcome several hurdles including illness and having to re-record some of the recordings after they became corrupted. Thankfully the band persevered and ‘Dying To Live’ is an impressive debut.
Lyrically the album is about vocalist Tim Castle’s battle with anxiety and depression, an illness that many people suffer with and although it is incredibly sad I find this album very positive. Song’s like ‘Old Friends’, ‘Ravens and Writing Desks’, ‘Dying To Live’ and the beautiful ‘New Beginnings’ are musically excellent and showcase Castle’s vocal talent brilliantly.
This young band should be incredibly proud of ‘Dying To Live’, a truly impressive debut and I hope they go on to release more albums as good as this.
